frequently asked questions
Are you Watase Yuu?
I have never have been, nor will I ever be, Watase Yuu - the creator of this series. In fact, my attempts at drawing
are so terrible that I manage to make stick figures look bad. If I were the manga-ka, the series would look something
like
this. And as you can see, that is not something that the weak at heart or any normal human, for that matter,
would ever want to see again. So stop asking me!
Is there an anime for the series?
Not yet. However, with Fushigi Yuugi being as popular as it was and the release of the Genbu Kaiden video game; I
am mostly positive that one day, perhaps a couple of years from now when there is more content to the series, that Genbu Kaiden
will become an anime. However as of now, there has been no news of an anime being in the works for Genbu Kaiden.
Are Tomite and Hikitsu gay?
As of now, no. Tomite is very perverted and very much attracted to women. For the first part of the series he has
a very obvious crush on Takiko, but when Takiko and Uruki end up more or less a couple, Tomite backs off and apparently
develops feelings for Hikitsu's little sister, Aria. There is no evidence that Tomite and Hikitsu have any more than a childhood
friend slash brother relationship.
Where can I download the series?
Not here. With Genbu Kaiden manga showing up everywhere since it's licensure, I have decided that no matter
how wrong I think the Viz translations are, that I will support them anyway for increasing fanbase. Because of that, I have
taken down all the scanlations and I will not email them to anyone nor put them back up. If you are a fan of the series, ignore
the annoying translations errors, support Watase Yuu and buy the manga. Don't come crying to me about not having enough money
for them either, they are only $10 a piece. Skip lunch a few days if you want them that badly.
You're mean.
Tough. That has nothing to do with this site.
If Takiko is in love with Uruki, doesn't that make her a lesbian?
Technically, yes. But no. Uruki was born a man and is a man when not using his seishi powers or not
under disguise; which is why I always
say he when referring to Uruki. He doesn't like his powers and only wants to be a seishi in order to protect Takiko. Uruki self
identifies as a male and all his enemies still treat him as a male when fighting. Sorta exactly like Ranma from Ranma ½.
Is it true that Takiko dies in the end of the series?
click for spoilers
According to the Fushigi Yuugi anime, Takiko does die after summoning Genbu. Actually, the anime states
that Takiko is killed by her father,
Einosuke, upon her return to Japan because she was being devoured. Why she is unable to fight the beast god is still under
speculation and we'll have to wait until later in the series to find out. One theory is that Takiko has caught
tuberculosis from taking care of her mother, which makes her too weak to fight Genbu.
How does Tomite and Hikitsu die?
click for spoilers
In Fushigi Yuugi, Watase said that Tomite dies while trying to save a child and Hikitsu dies trying to
save Tomite. That is about all we know about their deaths at this point.
Are there eight Genbu seishi?
click for spoilers
Yes. In chapter seven Anrou indirectly tells the Genbu crew that there are in fact eight Genbu seishi. In
the chapters that follow, that was overlooked because many events happened. However, in chapter eightteen it is revealed
that Haagasu, an assassin after Uruki and by this point a major character, has half of the symbol for Umiyame. So there are
two people who when together become that seishi.
If Tomite and Hikitsu both die, how does Takiko summon Genbu?
I have no idea. Perhaps they die after the fact, we shall see.
